Courtney Henderson, MHA, CPC, CPC-P

Practice Revenue Cycle Manager at Ironwood Cancer and Research Center

What was the type and focus of your organizational research project, and why did you choose that focus area?

My organizational research project focused on the relationship between patients, customers and consumers. I decided to develop a model that would help explain the dynamics of that relationship. I chose this topic because it was a recurring theme throughout our classes and is relevant to the health care industry.

What did you find most beneficial/rewarding when preparing your e-portfolio and/or your research project?

Looking back on assignments was very helpful when trying to write the reflection presentation. It is a whirlwind while you are in the program, so it was nice to take some time and reflect on what stood out the most.

The most rewarding part of my research project was hearing the feedback from my fellow cohorts and our professors. I have started to broaden my research to see if I can get it published at the recommendation of Professor Allen. Gaining the confidence to do this was my greatest reward.

How did the curriculum and/or faculty prepare you for completing this assignment?

The Friday before presentations started, Dr. Friedman told us that it was informal, and we were just sharing ideas. That really helped relax my nerves. I enjoyed the final immersion and think that my research project helped to provide me with some direction after graduation.
